Who looks for a Swipe Wipe alternative
Most people land here after a simple loop. They try a swipe cleaner, love how fast keep-or-delete feels, then hit a paywall that feels wrong for an app whose job is deleting their own files. Others never install a paid cleaner. They search “Swipe Wipe alternative” because a friend mentioned the gesture and they want a fairer option.
Another group is privacy-first. Full photo library access is a big permission. If an app is vague about uploads, analytics, or “cloud AI,” they leave. A third group just wants free storage wins first: screenshots, exact duplicates, and large videos, without learning a new brand.
PhotoSwipe is building for all three. We are pre-release. That means product intent and principles, not a finished App Store feature list. If you need a shipping app today, use free Apple tools below and treat any third-party cleaner as optional.
Pricing pain patterns (not an audit)
We have not audited Swipe Wipe’s live paywalls, A/B tests, or regional pricing. Patterns below come from common App Store cleaner complaints and public discussion. Always check the current listing before you pay anyone.
What people report most often: a free or cheap first session, then a hard stop before deletes finish; weekly or high annual plans for a utility they open a few times a year; “unlimited” framing that still hides essential actions; and little clarity on what remains free after trial.
Our design principle is different. Core swipe cleanup should be free to start. Optional unlocks for power features only. No mid-session wall just to confirm deletes you already chose. Exact tiers ship with the listing. Until then, treat that as intent, not a promise of a specific price point.
- Check the paywall before you grant full library access if you can.
- Ask what still works offline and without an account.
- Prefer apps that show space you will free before you commit.
- Walk away from any cleaner that refuses to delete until you subscribe mid-swipe.
The free Apple path (do this first)
You can free real storage without installing anything. Order matters. Measure, clear dense clutter, then empty Recently Deleted if you need space today.
- Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Photos. Note free GB and how large Photos is.
- Photos → Albums → Media Types → Screenshots. Multi-select obvious trash (codes, memes, expired tickets).
- Photos → Albums → Utilities → Duplicates (when available). Merge or delete exact copies Apple already found.
- Albums → Media Types → Videos. Sort large clips first if your iOS version makes size obvious; offload keepers to a Mac or Files before deleting.
- After deletes, open Albums → Utilities → Recently Deleted (or search “Recently Deleted”). Empty only what you are sure about. Space returns after permanent delete, not only after the first Delete tap.
- If you use iCloud Photos, remember Optimize iPhone Storage moves full files off-device. It is not the same as deleting. See our storage-still-full post if Settings barely moved.
When swipe UX actually wins
Built-in Photos is excellent for screenshots albums, exact duplicates, and bulk select on a single day. It gets slow when the job is judgment across hundreds of near-similar shots: 12 frames of the same sunset, burst sports, slightly different selfies, or a week of “good enough” product photos.
Swipe cleaners shine on that long tail. One decision per card. Right keep, left delete. No pinching grids. No drag-select finger cramps. The win is speed of decision, not magic detection that Apple cannot do.
If your camera roll pain is mostly screenshots and a few huge videos, finish with free tools and stop. If you stall every time you open a dense month in Recents, a dedicated swipe queue is the right shape of product. That is what PhotoSwipe is building: clutter queues plus review-before-confirm, not a replacement for the Photos app.
Privacy questions to ask any photo cleaner
Full Photos access can mean reading every image and video on the device. Before you tap Allow, get clear answers.
PhotoSwipe’s design goal is on-device keep/delete. We do not need a cloud copy of your camera roll to help you bin a screenshot. When we ship, the Privacy Policy and App Store labels will spell out any analytics or crash tooling. Until then, treat that as a goal, not a shipped certification.
- Does keep/delete run on-device, or do originals upload for “AI sorting”?
- What data leaves the phone: crash logs, device IDs, email for accounts, purchase receipts?
- Is an account required to delete local photos?
- Can you revoke access in Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos after the cleanup?
- Does the App Store privacy label match what support claims?
Who should wait for PhotoSwipe
Wait for us if you like the swipe idea, want fairer pricing principles, and can free space today with Apple tools while we finish the App Store build. Join the waitlist for the listing day email (and TestFlight if we open one).
Do not wait if your phone is full tonight and you need GB back for an iOS update. Empty Recently Deleted, clear Screenshots, remove huge videos, and offload apps you never open. Our guides walk through that path without an app install.
Also do not wait if you already found a cleaner whose live pricing and privacy story you trust. Fair competition is fine. We would rather you free storage than sit on a waitlist with a red storage bar.

Swipe Wipe代替FAQ
Is PhotoSwipe a free Swipe Wipe alternative?
PhotoSwipe is a pre-release iOS photo cleaner with the same core gesture idea (swipe keep/delete). Pricing is not final. Our principle is free-to-start core cleanup with optional unlocks, not a mid-session delete wall. Check the App Store listing when we ship for exact tiers.
Can I clean my camera roll without any third-party app?
Yes. Use Settings → iPhone Storage → Photos, the Screenshots album, Utilities → Duplicates, video culls, and Recently Deleted. Many people recover several GB that way alone.
Why does storage stay full after I delete photos?
Deleted items usually sit in Recently Deleted for up to 30 days and still count toward storage until you empty that album or the timer ends. iCloud Optimize can also confuse the picture. See our storage-full guide for the full checklist.
Does a swipe cleaner replace Apple Photos?
No. Use Apple tools for measurement, exact duplicates, and simple albums. Swipe apps help when you need fast keep/delete decisions on large near-similar sets.
Is granting full photo access safe?
It depends on the app. Prefer on-device processing, clear privacy labels, and no forced cloud upload for basic delete. Revoke access after cleanup if you only needed a one-time pass. Read our on-device privacy post for a checklist.
When will PhotoSwipe be on the App Store?
No public date yet. Join the waitlist on this site for launch-day notice. Until then, the free guides still apply.
