Core keep/delete is designed to run on your device. We don’t need a copy of your camera roll for that. When the app ships, the Privacy Policy and App Store privacy labels will spell out any analytics or crash tooling.

You’ll review a delete pile before confirm. Then items go to iOS Recently Deleted (Apple’s limited recovery window). Always review before you commit. Emptying Recently Deleted frees space sooner.

Most people recover the most space from screenshots, burst sequences, similar shots, and large videos, not from deleting a few good photos. You can start today with built-in Photos. Our app will speed up the judgment-heavy pass.

No. It’s complementary. Use Apple’s Storage, Duplicates, and Screenshots tools first. Swipe cleaners shine when you need rapid keep/delete decisions across hundreds of near-similar shots.

That’s the plan: review your delete stack before confirming. After confirm, use iOS Recently Deleted if you need a second chance.

Deleted items usually sit in Recently Deleted for up to 30 days and still use space until you empty that album or the timer ends. Also check Settings → General → iPhone Storage (not only Photos), and remember Optimize iPhone Storage is not the same as deleting. Empty Recently Deleted when you’re sure, then recheck free GB.

In Photos, open Albums, scroll to Utilities (or search “Recently Deleted”), open Recently Deleted, tap Select, then Delete All (or pick items). Permanent delete frees storage sooner. You lose the recovery window for anything you empty.

Exact duplicates are identical (or near-byte-identical) files. Apple’s Duplicates album is built for those. Similar photos are near-matches: bursts, retakes, slightly different crops. The system often misses them, so you multi-select in Recents or use a swipe queue for keep-the-best decisions.

No. With iCloud Photos, Optimize can keep smaller local versions and store full originals in iCloud. Your library still exists. Deleting removes items (then Recently Deleted). Use Optimize to free on-device space when iCloud is your archive; delete when you no longer want the photo at all.

Work in batches by type or date: Screenshots first, then Duplicates, then one month of Recents. Multi-select, delete, scan Recently Deleted before you empty it. Favorites and shared albums deserve a slower pass. For hundreds of near-similars, a swipe review pile is safer than frantic Select-all on Mixed years.

It depends on the app. Prefer cleaners that process keep/delete on-device, publish clear App Store privacy labels, and don’t require uploading your camera roll for basic cleanup. Full Photos access is powerful; revoke it in Settings when you’re done if you only needed a one-time pass. PhotoSwipe is designed on-device-first; labels ship with the app.
